Day 84 out of 100 to Learn Masonic Ritual, and yesterday we finished our second run through the Third Degree Raising Ceremony. I know we only had a revision on it the other day, but before going through the Third Degree for the third time, it does make sense to have another…

Learning Masonic Ritual, Day 84 of 100: Revision of Installation Ceremony

In my book Investing the Officers starts on page 214 with the IPM, then picks up with the Senior Warden on page 223, through the Offices to page 235, then Resuming is on page 68 and Closing the Lodge is pages 62-65.

We had an impromptu revision of the Installation Ceremony on Day 82 because I realised I hadn’t learnt it as well as I had hoped and was relying a little too much on the book for prompts, and ideally we really need to be only needing the occasional prompts before we enter into the Rehearsal stage.

Therefore, as with the other day go through the Installation Ceremony without the book to hand. When you get to a point you either require a prompt, need to spend a couple of seconds to remember it, or just have the feeling that a piece of ritual doesn’t feel “right” make a note. Once you’ve gone through the ceremony take a look at your notes and concentrate on those parts, and see how you handle those pieces again.

If you still get stuck on them, or it still doesn’t feel right now cross-reference those parts with book and check them, and ensure you focus on correcting them. Keep the bit of paper and if possible have another revision of those bits again later this evening (you don’t need to go through the whole thing, just these problem areas) and see if the corrections have stuck.
