ITC 09 In The Chair Masonic Podcast talks to Jim Dance, Provincial Grand Charity Steward in Berkshire.

This interview is in conjunction with the last episode where I spoke to Robert Faulkner, a trustee of the Berkshire Masonic Charities: In The Chair Masonic Podcast, Episode 8.

One of the major things Jim wants to raise awareness of is the Gift Aid scheme which can increase the charity donations by 25% as tax is able to claimed back from the government. Though a little paperwork is required the effects are considerable.

We also discuss how Freemasons raise money, and explains how the money that Masonry raises is raised from within the organisation.

I also ask Jim the “quick questions”:

  • Why did I become a Mason?
  • Why did I stay a Mason?
  • Do I have a single memory of Freemasonry?
  • Any advice for people interested in joining Freemasonry?
