We’re now on day 24 of our 100 day plan to learn the ritual, and it’s 77 days to the ritual. Yes, I know that doesn’t add up to 100, that’s because the 100 days finishes the day before your Installation – you don’t want to be learning ritual on the morning you go into the Chair!
We’ve spent the last two days working on the First Degree Obligation, and yesterday took some time to consider why this is such an important piece of Ritual, especially from the Candidate’s perspective.
Learning Masonic Ritual, Day 24 of 100: First Degree Post Obligation
After some of the larger chunks of Ritual we’ve been covering over the last week we are onto some less strenuous transition Ritual today, that links the Obligation to the Lesser Lights (in my book of Emulation Ritual this is on pages 83-84). This transition starts with two small paragraphs, and a longer paragraph sandwiched between two single sentences.
Now you are getting used to learning on a daily basis this shouldn’t be to arduous – remember, you aren’t needing to be word-for-word at the moment; but to get familiarity with it. I have found that the larger paragraph has needed additional work, it’s a bit I initially thought would be easier than what it is. You may find it relatively simple and have issues with the other parts.
If you do rocket through today’s work and have some learning time left then feel free to have another run through the Obligation or any other parts you may have have problems with over the past few weeks.
